【CNBC】Chinese investors choose Singapore over Hong Kong for ‘diversification’ — but things could change

  • “Some of this demand (in Singapore) is from mainland Chinese money that might otherwise have been channeled to Hong Kong, or Hong Kong money looking for offshore diversification,” said Juwai.com Executive Chairman Georg Chmiel.
  • Foreign buyers in Singapore are required to pay a whopping 20% tax on any residential property purchase. Even so, Chinese investors are still pouring money into what they perceive to be a safe investment.

According to new data from Yardi Matrix, the number of apartment skyscrapers in the U.S. are much more common today than they were three decades ago. From only 8 in the '90s to a skyrocketing 68 in the '10s, residential skyscrapers are fast becoming popular across the country. Between the '00s and the '10s, their number almost doubled.

【CNBC】Here’s where the housing shortage is the worst

  • At the end of October, inventory nationwide fell to a 3.9-month supply, according to the National Association of Realtors.
  • The supply is worst on the low end, down over 6% from a year ago for homes priced between $100,000 and $250,000, according to the Realtors.
  • California, where prices are highest, is seeing a drop in supply in all major markets, but supply is also falling in some unexpected cities.

【World Property Journal】New Home Construction, Buyer Traffic Rise in North America

According to new data from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development and Commerce Department, total housing starts increased 3.8 percent in October 2019 to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.31 million units.

The October reading of 1.31 million starts is the number of housing units builders would begin if they kept this pace for the next 12 months. Within this overall number, single-family starts increased 2.0 percent to 936,000 units. The multifamily sector, which includes apartment buildings and condos, increased 8.6 percent to a 378,000 pace.
 

【台灣經濟研究院】108年11月景氣動向調查

觀察近期主要國家經濟情勢,受到投資放緩影響,美、中第三季經濟成長表現不如上季,歐元區第三季經濟成長則維持與上季相同水準。在國內方面,儘管傳統產業出口與接單表現較9月為佳,令傳統產業廠商對當月景氣看法略有轉好,惟整體改善幅度仍有限。雖然電子資通訊產品出貨依舊強勁,然部分產品報價持續走跌,使得電子零組件廠商看壞當月景氣的比例較9月為高;服務業方面,受惠於車市與股市交易熱絡,令零售業與證券業廠商看好當月景氣,不過對於未來半年景氣看法仍偏向保守;營建業方面受惠於先前延遲開工的建築標終將陸續釋出,且建築標工程收入認列趨增,使得營造業廠商對於未來半年景氣看法轉趨樂觀,加上10月房市交易熱絡,使得不動產業廠商看好當月景氣。據本院調查結果,經過模型試算後,10月製造業營業氣候測驗點連二個月下滑,服務業營業氣候測驗點雖連三個月下滑,然跌幅有限,營建業測驗點則轉為上揚。
