【World Property Journal】Demand for Green Residential Properties in Hong Kong to Increase

According to JLL's latest Hong Kong Residential Market Monitor Report released this week, with only 15 private housing estates in Hong Kong having been awarded BEAM Plus Platinum ratings JLL believes that as the understanding deepens, awareness of the environmental, health and financial benefits of green residential will drive more widespread consumer demand.

【CNBC】China’s real estate slump predicted to last for years, threatening to spill into the wider region

  • “We only assume an ‘L-shaped’ recovery in the property sector in coming years,” Goldman Sachs economists wrote in a weekend note.
  • JPMorgan’s Tai Hui told CNBC, “I think that recovery is going to be slow, but I think there also a huge divergence between the state-owned developers versus the more private sector developers.”
  • Morgan Stanley, in its mid-year outlook report, warned that further weakness in the property sector will likely bring more headwinds for China’s growth.

【CNBC】Inflation rose at a 4% annual rate in May, the lowest in 2 years

  • The consumer price index increased just 0.1% for the month and 4% from a year ago, the latter being the lowest level in about two years.
  • Excluding food and energy, core CPI rose 0.4% and 5.3%, respectively.
  • All the numbers were in line with consensus estimates.
  • Following the release, markets priced in a nearly 100% chance that the Federal Reserve will not raise interest rates this week.

【Knight Frank】Prime Global Rental Index - Q1 2023

Surging demand pushes prime global residential rents to record highs. Prime rents are now 14% above their pre-pandemic high (Q3 2019) and 21.7% above the pandemic low (Q1 2021). Rents in global luxury residential markets are continuing to see strong growth. The Knight Frank Prime Global Rental Index rose by 8.5% in the 12 months to March this year – with rents in a majority of markets hitting new records.
